This cotinga occurs locally on the tepuis of southeastern Venezuela and adjacent northern Brazil and Guyana. It feeds mainly on fruit and also takes insects.
The male has grey upperparts and paler grey underparts, with a pink-magenta collar and matching undertail coverts. Females lack the collar and have cinnamon-rufous undertail coverts.
It lives in moist montane forest and forest edge at 1,000–1,800 m. Fruit, especially that of Melastomataceae, is its main food, though it also takes insects.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
