This cuckooshrike is endemic to Sulawesi, where it inhabits mature hill and mountain forest. Adults are bluish, but juveniles and regional forms differ in color.
Adult males are blue-grey with cobalt on the wings and tail; females are similar. Juveniles are grey with pale bars and white tail marks. The eastern subspecies tonkeana is less blue and paler below, while central and southeastern rileyi is grayer.
In mature primary and secondary forest in hills and mountains, small groups forage in the midstorey and canopy, inspecting branches and leaf undersides.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
