A forest dove ranging from Sulawesi through the Moluccas to northwestern New Guinea. The account notes that some island populations may be treated as separate species.
In the account's general adult male description, the upperparts are reddish brown, the golden-brown breast has fine black bars, and the neck-feather edges may show green or pink iridescence.
It uses primary and secondary forest, forest edges and isolated tree groups in grassland. On Sulawesi it has been recorded feeding mainly on fruit in the middle storey to canopy.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
