This small white-toothed shrew was recorded in a mountain in northern Vietnam. A 2001 survey collected five specimens there; they had dark gray-brown backs, white upper feet, and long bristles on the basal half of the tail.
The five Vietnamese specimens had dark grayish-brown dorsal fur, sometimes silver-tipped, and a slightly grayer underside. The upper surfaces of the feet were white, and the proximal half of the tail bore longer bristles.
In the 2001 survey, five specimens were caught in pitfall traps at 1,300 and 1,500 m. Both elevations fall within the disturbed subtropical-forest zone described along the transect at 1,250–1,550 m.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
