The Chinese Grey Shrike is widespread in Northeast Asia and moves to southern China for the winter. Its large white wing slash differs from the wing pattern of the separate Giant Shrike.
The Chinese Grey Shrike has a reduced black eye mask and extra white on the wing that extends into the inner secondaries, forming a distinctive slash.
It uses wetlands, open fields and grassland, low scrub, and the tall-grass edges of rice fields. Its diet includes small rodents and large insects.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
