Sody's Yellow Bat was recorded under this name in a 2016 North Lombok survey. A 2021 taxonomic study reconsidered Asian yellow house bats and questioned the former distinction of S. collinus.
Under the 1997 classification, the smaller form assigned to S. collinus had mean forearm lengths of 49.1 mm in males and 50.9 mm in females. A 2021 study considered this size-based distinction uncertain.
In a 2016 Indonesian Ministry of Health survey, 26 of 29 bats identified as S. collinus were caught in gardens by a remote beach, and three in non-forest places near homes. Later work questioned the distinction behind that name.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
