This pipit is recorded mainly in Argentina's central Pampas. It has been observed in alfalfa and soybean fields and in natural grassland. Related pipits can be difficult to separate in the field; overall color, the outer tail feathers, and the hind claw are among the identification characters discussed in the paper.
The paper lists overall coloration, the outer tail feathers, and hallux-claw length as identification characters. It also says field identification from the related Anthus lutescens can be difficult.
In central Argentina it was observed in fields of alfalfa, peanuts, sorghum, soy, oats, and maize, as well as in some natural grassland.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
