This Hawaiian honeycreeper lives only in high-elevation forest on east Maui. It has a large curved bill, and pairs defend territories year-round.
Adults have olive-green backs and wings, yellow cheeks, breast, and belly, and a bright yellow line above the eye. The large bill is strongly curved like a parrot's.
It is non-migratory and socially monogamous; pairs defend territories throughout the year.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
