The Pine Grosbeak is a large bird with a thick bill. Males are reddish, while females and young birds are mostly gray; it eats buds, seeds, and fruit.
Males have gray plumage with a rosy tint. Females and young birds are mainly gray, sometimes with yellow to orange on the head and rump. All have two white wingbars.
It nips buds and needles from conifer branches and picks fallen seeds from the ground. In winter, small groups move around in search of seeds and fruit.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
