This small bird inhabits humid montane forest on the eastern Andes from Colombia through Bolivia. It feeds mainly on fruit, including mistletoe berries.
It is about 9–10 cm long. Males have a yellow forehead patch, olive upperparts and a greyish nape; the underparts are yellowish to ochraceous. Females lack the yellow forehead patch and have a grey center to the belly.
It eats fruit from trees and shrubs, often including mistletoe berries. It searches among moss and lichens on branches and sometimes joins mixed-species flocks.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
