A small owl centred on Tasmania, with dark eye markings and white spots. It is active at night and uses wooded habitats; some occur in southern Victoria in winter.
About 28–30 cm long, brown with dark eye markings, white spotting and yellow to orange-yellow eyes.
It is nocturnal in wooded Tasmanian habitats; some reach southern Victoria in winter.
