This ground squirrel lives in the Cascade Mountains. It has a white-striped back and russet shoulders, and the current taxonomy places it in Callospermophilus.
Russet fur spreads over the shoulders, and the gray-brown back has white stripes bordered by black lines. The belly, feet, and tail are buff-colored.
It is active by day and rests in burrows. It spends only about four to five summer months above ground and hibernates for most of the rest of the year.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
