The Black-fronted Tyrannulet is recorded in cloud forest around the Guiana Highlands. It has a black forehead and two pale wing bars; a survey on the northern slope of Mount Roraima found it in the canopy and subcanopy.
It has a dark grey crown, black forehead and front of the eye, white nasal feathers, and two pale yellowish bars on the dark wings.
On the northern slope of Mount Roraima, the 2001 survey found it mostly above 1,000 m in the canopy and subcanopy, where it was uncommon. The first specimen there came from a mixed-species flock in the mid-story at 800 m.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
