This white-furred bat flies high over forests and open areas in South America. A 2017 review listed records from 20 localities in eight countries.
Its body is white, described as silky in a 2006 account. A specimen examined in 2017 was also white overall.
High flight and roosting among palm leaves are given as reasons why it is rarely recorded. The 2017 paper describes aerial insect hunting for members of its genus.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
