This vole is reported from mountain grasslands and fields. The 2017 handbook treatment used here cautions that the boundaries of the species are not yet clearly defined.
The nominate subspecies from southwestern Iran is described with pale sandy-buff fur on the back.
The handbook lists mountain steppe, shrubby grassland, and fields as habitats, and reports captures by both day and night.
