This shrew was described from Mount Talamau on Sumatra, Indonesia. Its original study identifies an association with montane environments.
Its fur is dark gray-brown and slightly woolly. The underside is a little paler than the back, and the relatively long tail is sparsely haired.
The Mount Talamau study recorded it in montane forest and concluded that the species is associated with montane environments. That study did not report a detailed diet or daily behavior.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
