The Balingka shrew is a montane shrew known only from Mt. Singgalang in West Sumatra, Indonesia.
The back is dark gray-brown, the underside paler, and the tail long and slender.
It was repeatedly captured in pitfall traps in the upper montane zone of Mt. Singgalang; the original study treats it as a montane specialist.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
