A small free-tailed bat with a patchy distribution in western and central Africa. Its back is reddish brown, underside white, and wings dark brown.
Its fur is short and reddish brown above, white below; the wings and tail membrane are dark brown. Its ears are also dark and relatively short.
It is nocturnal and roosts communally in small groups in hollow trees.
