An antwren of dry woodland and scrub in northeastern Brazil, especially in the Caatinga region.
The tail is graduated. Males have a gray-to-black head, a white eyebrow, pale belly and short dark eye-line; females have yellow-brown edges to the crown and a yellow-brown belly.
It occurs in scrub and woodland and sometimes joins mixed-species flocks. The account also describes a short, fast trill.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
