The Fiscal Flycatcher is endemic to southern Africa. It uses open habitats with scattered trees or bushes, including grassland, fynbos, semi-arid scrub, and valley bushveld.
Males are black and white, with white windows in the tail and a short white wing bar. Females are duller gray-brown and white.
It mainly eats small insects, supplemented by fruit. Much of its hunting begins from a high perch, from which it pounces on prey on the ground; it sometimes hawks prey in the air or joins mixed-species feeding flocks.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
