This flycatcher is endemic to India's Western Ghats. The male has a striking black-and-orange contrast.
The male is about 11-13 cm long, with a black head and face, orangey-rufous back and tail, bluish-black wings, and orange underparts.
It uses the undergrowth of evergreen hill forest and bamboo. Diet information is limited, but small insects, larvae, and spiders are reported.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
