The Lake Chad tateril is a gerbil recorded in grassland and shrubland of the Sahel–Sudanian zone. Its ochre-brown back contrasts with a white belly.
The back is ochre to rufous and becomes paler on the flanks. It has a clear boundary with the white belly, and a long tail ending in a hair pencil.
Surveys in northern Cameroon and Niger caught it in shrub savanna, fallow land, and field or garden edges. The authors considered it probably terrestrial and nocturnal.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
