The Indo-Pacific finless porpoise is a distinct species from the narrow-ridged finless porpoise. It has a bumpy back ridge instead of a dorsal fin and feeds in shallow coastal waters.
It has no dorsal fin. A line of wart-like bumps runs along a raised ridge on its back; its head is rounded and it has no beak.
It lives alone or in small groups and darts just below the surface, changing direction quickly. In shallow waters over soft or sandy bottoms it eats bottom-dwelling fish, crabs, shrimp, squid and other small animals.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
