Burmeister’s porpoise lives along the coasts of South America. Small, thorn-like bumps line the front edge of its dorsal fin.
Its low dorsal fin sits toward the rear of the body and has two to four rows of small, spiny bumps along the front edge. Its colour can range from brown or grey to almost black.
It lives in shallow coastal waters and may enter estuaries and the mouths of small rivers. It is usually seen alone, but records sometimes include pairs or groups of two to six.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
