The Mongolian mountain vole lives in mountain areas from Mongolia into northern China. Its gray-brown back contrasts with a pale underside.
The back is gray-brown and the underside is grayish white. White hairs on the tail contrast with the darker back.
It lives among rocky mountain grasslands and shrubs and feeds on plants. The account also describes daytime activity and seasonal breeding.
