The Great Skua is a stout, dark seabird with white flashes on its wings. It sometimes steals food from other birds.
In flight, its dark body contrasts with white wing flashes, a useful feature in the RSPB identification account.
It steals food even from birds as large as gannets and also preys on smaller birds such as puffins. It migrates to the UK’s northernmost isles to breed and winters off Spain and Africa.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
