This large weaver ranges from Gabon and the Congo Basin to central Angola.
The male has a dark back, yellow rump and underparts, and a contrasting black chin and throat. The female is similar but has a black crown.
It inhabits open savanna with scattered bushes and trees, often near gallery forest. Pairs or small groups stay high in low trees; grass seeds and insects are recorded foods.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
