A rodent native to northern South America that sometimes buries seeds for later.
Its coarse, glossy fur is greenish-brown, with an orange to red rump and a white stripe along the underside.
It eats fruit, seeds, roots and leaves, and may eat insect larvae when plant food is scarce. When food is abundant, it buries Brazil nuts to dig up later.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
