This small bat has a dark head and yellow-to-orange hair on the sides of the neck and shoulders. It is recorded in forests of the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, Java and Borneo and feeds mainly on fruit.
The head has short, dense, dark blackish-brown fur; the back is lighter and grayish. Hair on the neck sides and shoulders is yellowish to orange, becoming creamy on the chest and grayer toward the belly.
It is more common in hill and montane rainforest and uses forest strata below the canopy. It is primarily frugivorous and roosts at cave entrances, in rock shelters and in tree cavities.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
