The Lesser Black-backed Gull is a large gull with a dark gray back and white body. It breeds from northern Europe to western Siberia and moves south for winter.
Adults have a dark gray back and upper wings, with a white head and underparts. They acquire adult plumage by their fourth year, and traits such as leg color vary among subspecies.
It searches for fish and other food along coasts and estuaries, and may steal food from other birds. It nests on the ground during the breeding season.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
