This ovenbird inhabits swamps and moist lowland forest in the Amazon region. It has brown upperparts, cinnamon underparts and tail, and a long down-curved bill.
It is about 16.5–17 cm long, and the sexes are similar. The head, back and wings are brown; the underparts, tail, rump and throat are cinnamon, with a cinnamon stripe above the eye and a long down-curved bill.
It uses swamps and moist lowland forest up to 700 m and eats insects and other invertebrates. The account says it nests in tree cavities or earth banks, with both sexes incubating and rearing the young.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
