The Dhofar shrew has records from the Dhofar region of Oman and eastern Yemen. A 2006 report also describes the coloration of four animals collected in Yemen.
Four specimens collected in Yemen had dark greyish-brown backs and paler grey undersides. Their tails were mostly one color, with a slightly paler area near the base underneath.
The four animals were collected at two pasture sites with short grass and scattered shrubs and trees. The article gives the collection habitat but not diet or activity times.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
