This bristly mouse has been recorded at two localities on opposite slopes of the Serrania de los Yariguies in Colombia. The original description gives specific streamside forest records.
The dorsal coat has an orange-brown appearance with black-tipped spines. Broad orange-ochraceous patches sit on each side of the muzzle above the mouth.
The paper records one specimen in dense high-canopy forest with leaf litter beside a stream, and another in a forest remnant beside a stream within a pasture-dominated landscape.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
