The current name is Cinnyris stuhlmanni, but a 1949 Ruwenzori account uses the older name Nectarinia afer stuhlmanni and describes males there. Current data place it in Burundi, DR Congo, Rwanda and Uganda.
The 1949 Ruwenzori account describes local males with dark metallic green upperparts, violet on the tail and dark olive-brown underparts. A violet bar separates the throat from the scarlet chest band.
The historical account says it was common above the bamboo zone at 10,000–12,000 feet and attached a moss nest among moss on tree heath.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
