This flycatcher is recorded in Cameroonian montane forest. Its original description gives a blue-gray head, back, and breast with a white belly; field observers on Mount Cameroon recorded adults feeding a fledgling.
The 1893 description gives the bird a small black crest, blue-gray hindneck, back, breast, and flanks, a white abdomen, pale rump and uppertail, and brown-black wings and tail.
In March 2001, field observers recorded adults feeding a large fledgling at several sites on Mount Cameroon.
