This blue flycatcher occurs in wooded habitats of West and Central Africa. It perches among foliage and makes short flights to catch small arthropods.
It has blue plumage, a crest, and black around the eyes. Its long tail can fan out, with the central feathers longer than the outer ones.
It moves through leafy upper forest with a pair or small group, catching small arthropods in short sallies from a perch. It also uses riverine and montane woodland.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
