This small flycatcher was described from the western Amazon. The original paper records sites in southern Colombia, Ecuador and Peru, and says the limits of its range were not known.
Buff coloring washes across the chest, auriculars and forecrown. The grayish crown contrasts with the olive-green back. In living birds the pale iris can have an orangish tint.
Near Sucusari in eastern Peru, it was largely restricted to the middle story of seasonally or permanently flooded river-edge forest. It sallies toward leaves and sometimes joins mixed-species flocks.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
