Its back is reddish brown with a coppery sheen, and its underside is yellow. One specimen was recorded in regenerating tropical forest on New Britain Island.
The coat is long and coarse. Coppery guard hairs give the reddish-brown back a sheen; the underside is yellow. The feet are brown-furred on top, and the tail is entirely black.
HMW records one specimen caught in tropical-forest regrowth. This is a single capture and does not show that the species is restricted to or especially common in that habitat.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
