The Tagula Honeyeater is recorded on Junet and Sudest islands in Papua New Guinea's Louisiade Archipelago. Birds tracked in 2016 used regenerating forest, gardens and riparian remnants, foraging from the canopy to the understorey for arthropods, fruit and nectar.
Mature birds have grey lores and a grey forehead, with rounded yellow ear-spots. Thin yellow rictal streaks run from the gape toward the ear-spots but do not meet them. The iris of mature birds was recorded as slate-blue to grey.
During 2016 tracking on Junet Island, individuals used regrowth, coconut gardens and riparian forest remnants, foraging in both canopy and understorey. The study recorded arthropods, fruit and nectar in the diet.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
