The Crested Hornero is recorded in central Argentina. Observations from Córdoba describe mud nests built on tree branches.
The crest, back, and wings are brown; the forehead is chestnut. It has a white throat, grayish-ochre underparts, a whitish belly, and a rufous tail.
Near Jesús María in Córdoba, nests were recorded in secluded places around the town. One was on a fruit-tree branch near a house; the nest material was mud with only a little plant matter.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
