This ovenbird-family species occurs in northwestern South America, including Peru. A nest was studied in Peruvian floodplain forest.
In northwestern Peru the belly is buffish, while birds in the Amazonian region have a light rufous belly.
A study in southeastern Peru recorded a pair nesting in floodplain forest near a river. Both parents fed nestlings, and the mud nest projected over water from a tree.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
