The Speckled Tanager lives mainly in the canopy of humid montane forest from Central America to northern South America.
Its head and back shine chartreuse to green-blue and are covered with black speckles. The black wing and tail feathers have bright turquoise edges.
It mainly eats fruit but also gleans insects from leaves and fruit. It often forages in groups of three to six and may join mixed-species flocks.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
