This tanager is described in a Suriname guide as a bird of the middle forest layers, seen in pairs or small groups. Its green plumage has dark edges.
The green feathers are edged in black, creating a scaled pattern; the throat and breast are also patterned in black and green. The center of the belly is white, and the sexes are alike.
It occurs in rainforest and savanna forest, using the middle canopy and appearing in pairs or small groups.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
