The Omani Owl is a medium-sized owl with a distinct facial disc and large eyes. It is elusive in the field and has few documented records.
It lacks ear tufts and has a round facial disc, large eyes, and a short tail. The facial disc of the bird photographed in northern Oman was pale grey with fine dark markings.
The study reports the population in Oman and one bird captured and released in Mashhad, northeastern Iran. The authors describe the species as highly elusive and difficult to study in the field.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
