This small bat has silky pale-brown fur and slightly paler, yellowish underparts. It is recorded in forests, riverine woodland, and wetter miombo woodland across parts of Africa.
Head-and-body length is about 51–56 mm, tail length 30–34 mm, forearm length 33–38 mm, and mass 7–8 g. Its silky, slightly glossy fur is pale brown above and a little paler, usually yellowish, below. The wings are blackish brown and slightly translucent.
Records include montane evergreen and riverine forest, farmland mixed with wetter miombo woodland in Malawi, lowland and secondary forests and forest edges in Tanzania. The HMW account also mentions riverine forest in Somalia’s Jubba Valley, although its range paragraph lists Somalia as possible. Individuals have been caught foraging over ponds, streams, and pools. The reported elevational range is 120–1,633 m. Diet and breeding are unknown.
