The black uakari has a bare black face and lives in forests along rivers in the northern Amazon. Its back color varies between subspecies.
Its face is hairless and black, as are its hands and lower legs, while the body is deep brown. The back ranges from yellowish to reddish brown or black between subspecies.
It lives in groups and feeds heavily on unripe fruits and seeds. When food is spread out, a group may split into smaller foraging parties.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
