Lorentz's Whistler is a small whistler of the central New Guinea highlands. Its grey breast band and mottled white throat are distinctive, and it searches for insects in damp highland scrub.
It has a grey head, olive upperparts, and blackish wings and tail. The white throat is mottled grey, above a grey upper breast; the remaining underparts are dull yellow. Females are similar to males, while juveniles are described as chestnut-red.
It is resident in moist montane and alpine scrub and feeds on insects. A male in breeding condition was recorded in August.
The eyes are dark brown and the bill is black.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
