This small ferret-badger was described from Vietnam. Its 2011 paper used one museum specimen and a photograph of a second animal; the IUCN assessment also emphasizes how few records exist.
Of the two animals in the description, one had a short white stripe from neck to shoulder bordered by black lines. The other showed only a white patch between the shoulders.
The holotype was found in a compound of buildings at the degraded edge of lowland evergreen forest on limestone. The second animal was presumed to be from nearby, but its habitat was not recorded.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
