A small Andean bird that searches for insects in pairs in the forest understory. Its yellow eyebrow and yellowish belly stand out.
The back is dark olive, and a long yellow eyebrow extends beyond the eye. The dark wings have rufous bars, while the belly is yellow-olive.
It is often seen in pairs, taking insects from leaves or near the ground in dense understory, mostly 0.1–4 m above ground.
