Jelski’s Chat-Tyrant forages in the dense understory of humid montane forest. The Peru Aves page consulted here uses the older combination Ochthoeca jelskii; this entry follows the pool’s name, Silvicultrix jelskii, for the same species.
It has brown upperparts and two rufous wing-bars. A dusky gray crown is bordered by a broad white eyebrow; the lores are bright yellow and the bill is black.
It forages in the dense understory of humid montane forest. The account treats it as a distinct species and notes that its range does not overlap with the similar Crowned Chat-Tyrant.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
